Annarita Catalan – Case Manager
“And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you’ll move mountains” – Dr. Seuss
My name is Anna Catalan, I was born in Brooklyn, NY and I was raised in Naples, Italy thereafter. I came back to the US when I was 7 years old not knowing any English. I spent all my summers in Italy until I became an adult. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. My dream is to one day open a shelter for woman who suffer domestic violence and be a voice for them. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside with my kids and traveling.
My parents migrated to the US before I was born, and they raised their four children here. Since I was a freshman in high school, I have always loved immigration and working in this field. I hope to become an immigration attorney in the future. I know firsthand what it’s like to have immigrant parents, and what it was like starting from zero. In 2017, my parents became citizens of the US after 30 years of living here. Their happiness of being able to live in this country without fearing something happening to them was finally over. Seeing that made me realize that if they could do it, anyone could. This is also why I chose this career because I love helping people, I love being able to make a difference in someone’s life. I know that if I can make a difference in one person’s life, I did something right. My parents’ journey made me become who I am. I know it wasn’t easy for them, and that is why I understand and empathize with people who also come to the US for a better life.
